  1. Nice store, was clean and neat on day I was there. Clearance was well organized.
    These days, most clothes not to my taste, not interested in their makeup and jewelry offered is cheapened quality from 20 years ago. Bedding products still pretty good but easier to buy online.

  2. Much less merchandise on the shelves compared to yrs gone by. It use to be every sqft had tons of merch to look through. If it weren’t for the st. jhons bay line of clothing being the only clothing line that fits me well; I wouldn’t even bother.

    During the holiday months I felt bad for the staff because hordes of people would come in like locus and just trash the area like flies. Then leave. It took staff a couple weeks to clean up this mess left by society not respecting public areas.

    The changing rooms have gotten quite dirty. Last couple times I’ve been in. They’ve had the same stains and dirt and loose hair and random stuff that falls off of clothing in the same areas. Jc Penny use to be known for cleanliness. I’d say they’re currently on par with value village changing rooms. I worked as a changing room attendant before and know they have to clean once an hr. The people in charge of the changing rooms are clearly not cleaning. I wouldn’t count cleaning during covid that was forced and half the time they didn’t do it. Most of the attendants are nice and pleasant or some what pleasant to deal with. However, there’s one lady that has a loud voice and wonders around chasing staff to be sure they’re doing what they are to be doing. Thus not making a pleasant shopping experience when she shouts into the changing room to try and find her staff.

    Due to staffing they generally close all but one or two in the area. So they can often get lines of customers desiring to try things on. If they want customers to have a one way in one way out scenario they need ot have directional arrows to indicate such a thing. I’ve been snapped at more than once by attendants not realizing this.

    The mall parking lot can be a bit of a maze to deal with. The slots are narrow and can barely fit a standard sized vehicle into the slots. Most vehicles over hang and often end up blocking the aisle. More than once I’ve tried walking in or out of the store and keep getting the “are you fallowing me look?” good lord people take a chill pill. It’s pretty common to have a small percentage of your path cross path with another person’s walking path. Not everyone is going to mug or stalk you people.

    I highly encourage people NOT to do online ordering. I’ve had more than one order mucked up and you have to go into the stores to return it. No online returning. Sort of sucky if you’re trying to avoid going into the mall all together. I’d say 90% of all my online orders end up getting returned due to not fitting right or they do not look good on me or the shipper sent me the wrong item(s). Most of the staff are no questions asked when you return stuff. It’s obvious they do not like their job and have zero compassion towards it. Online order are very much a hassle and not pleasant to deal with. I’ve had scenarios where I’ve ordered online and at the store level not have it show up in their system.

    The cashiers in the front are excellent and I’ve yet to have one grumpy cashier or a cashier not like the position. They speed the lines through and help people efficiently.

  3. Don’t hold your breath when getting in the check out lines here… We waited approximately 20+ mins in line because our checker was extremely slow. She had to deal with an inpatient customer and she was a bit rattled after… I would suggest the store staff more available checkers ok weekend days.
    We found great deals on ties and dress shirts.

  4. Big lines with not many cashier opened. The store is mess , clothes on the floors , and products out of stock. No customer service on the floor to help . No urgency with huge lines to check out .

Tukwila WA I had finally made it back to the store to return a pr of my husband’s jeans, we are in the depths of our 35 yr old son becoming a quadraplegic, Elisa was my light that day on August16 2023 in the return dept of South Centet Mall! I told her she made my day she smiled, we laughed because this is your next bump in this road of life. Thank you Miss Elisa!

    Staff seems to be shrinking. Selection of clothes is quite good. Easy parking. I go there fairly often, and my only complaint is that they could use more staff, but most businesses do these days.

    Rude fitting room lady on 7/16 around 2 pm. Had to walk to the other side of the store to find an open fitting room for my kids to try on clothes. As we got closer, I heard a woman shouting something like “stop,” “wait” or “hold on.” It didn’t seem directed at us, so I thought they were talking to someone else. She quickly makes a beeline to cut us off and says she needs to see our clothes, I missed why, maybe to count them? I said “oh, did we miss a sign outside stating that we should wait?” She said “no, no sign.” Had there been a sign I would have happily waited. I prefer to follow the rules rather than get yelled at. Made me not want to purchase anything but my kids liked the shirts, so we did. We’ll skip JCPenney next time. Carter’s and Macy’s were friendlier and didn’t have dressing room police.

    I go here with my girlfriend to get our hair cuts. There is this amazing hairstylist that you got to get in with. She does colors, cuts and styles. She has no problem with black folk hair. Her name is Andrea Jones. Go see her. She is amazing.

    We always find great buys and good home equipment and clothing at Penney’s. The staff is friendly. They add crew during busy times so that the wait to check out is never too long. I forgot to bring my card and they let me use another ID to charge merchandise. I hope Penney’s thrives and grows stronger every day! UPDATE Looking around waiting for my wife, a clerk greeted me. She gave me directions to the Home department where we found new bed pillows, bathroom rugs and accessories. We figured about $110. The cost was about $80. Joy! Check out was quick. The lady was helpful explaining how my credit on the account would be applied in 24 hours. She also told my wife how to replace her JCP card.

    In the past, I used to enjoy shopping at JC Penny, but the return experience was quite disappointing. They only have one counter at the end of the store with no signs to guide customers towards it. The wait time for a simple return is between 35 minutes to an hour, while all other counters remain empty, and the staff seems to be casually chatting and laughing, which made the situation worse. After this experience, I’ve decided never to shop at JC Penny. The corporate must be under some very poor leadership.

    My favorite store. Great prices and sales. Merchandise is made well. I’ve been shopping here for 22 years. And in that 22 years I’ve only had to return two things. A broken purse strap that I had for only a month, and I ordered a sheet set that I didn’t like the material and sent back. I even have two recliners and two end tables from here. I hope they never close this store. I know in this economy that some stores had to close. I ask for JC Penny’s gift cards for my birthday and Christmas every year. I even get my hair cut at the Penny’s salon. I highly recommend shopping here.

    Should be a -5 star. I had a salon appointment at 2:00 and waited 30 minutes before I left. The girl was a NO SHOW. There was no traffic so I contribute this to drugs or personal problems. Don’t waste your time here.

    While the store is stocked, there are very FEW employees and registers, making the check out line 2 sections long. On top of that, if you have a potty training child, there are NO female restrooms on the 2nd floor. Overall, it seems chaotic and in desperate need of help.

    Feeling annoyed when picking up online order. The counter that the email notification directed me to was not where I needed to go. I wasted 15min for the clerk to tell me.

    Update: I shopped at my local store making things simpler. However I wanted to try some things on instead of having to return things later. There were no changing rooms open. What the heck! The cashier I had was pleasant making the store experience much better.

    The store is clean and well stocked with the products and sizes I need and like. I’m not a fan of the new door situation, but I understand it’s to deter theft. I wish they would price match their own website so I wouldn’t have to purchase online to get a discount and then pick up in store.
