5 Replies to The 5 Biggest JCPenney Stores in Maryland, United States

  1. One of the few great department stores left. We bought jewelry, an air fryer , children holiday dresses. The savings, in store coupons and reward points are awesome incentives to shop repeatedly. The quality of the products are amazing and the return or replacement policies are fair. An amazing experience in shopping.

  2. Arlene cashier on 1st floor is the worst. Her customer service is almost non existent. There was no greeting. She walked away to price my item without saying anything and her attitude was just not customer friendly . I was happy to leave the register. PENNYS DO BETTER! White Marsh location

  3. My wife and I stopped by this Penney store several days ago. The wife needed to pickup several clothing items and, being a retired JC Penney employee herself for almost thirty years, she insisted we visit this location.

What she found was a consistently well run store with a plentiful supply of diversified inventory but possibly a little short on sales staff. It was a Wednesday afternoon so the customer traffic was light.

Consistency has been a hallmark of JC Penney for many years. This store exemplifies this retail strategy!

  4. On Sunday, I came into your store looking for a Comforter for my new bed. I stopped in your Columbia, Maryland store, and I did see a few others I liked better, but I was chaperoning a field trip, and I had students with me.

Your store was clean, organized, and neat in the bedding section. You didn’t have a large selection of King sizes. I had been to Home Goods, Marshall’s, Burlington, and Macy’s with no success. I found the set in the picture and decided to purchase it. Purple is my favorite color, and I have never had a purple comforter.

When I went to the register, it was a very long line. The presentation from the back of the line was not as neat and clean has in the bedding section. I could tell the cashiers had been busy, and no one had the time to put away the returns. However, they moved that line! It went very fast, and they asked everyone if they wanted a JC Penny credit card. Even though I didn’t choose to apply, I took the mental note that at least asked me.

I found a set. It looks beautiful! It wasn’t what I thought I would end up with, but I am pleased.

    Thank you!

  5. Kohls is way better. This place has turned so junkie it’s ridiculous. Their clothes smell and are way over priced. Stains on stuff that are supposed to be brand new. Customer service is a no go here because they don’t want to work. They play on their phones or are smoking out front. Their stuff is not up to date at all . I mean Walmart has better stuff then this place.

This is not the JC Penny’s from before. It’s rather sad to see the decline from the retail powerhouse this store chain once was. Everything is scaled back from the amount of inventory to the number of employees. I still enjoy shopping there because the employees are nice and there are good deals to be had if you look hard enough. Baby come back…🎶

Lines and more lines!!! There’s only ONE women’s dressing room for the whole store, so be prepared for a 15 min wait in line. Then a 15 minute wait at the register. The clothes are nice, deals are good, just be prepared to wait!

Great sales on bathroom items, comforter sets, staff were professional helpful and courteous, plenty of parking including handicap. Prices were very reasonable.

The employee who was in charge of the women’s fitting room literally chased after me to let me know I was holding more than 8 items and couldn’t enter the fitting room area. I tried to explain I was going to give my mother a different size to try on since she was already in the room and I could wait outside with the rest. She took the clothes from my hands, counted out 8 items, and put the rest on the return rack. I had to argue to pick out which items I wanted to bring in, and asked if I could keep the others outside of the room. She assured me I could. So I reluctantly left the other items and while I switched sizes out for my mom. When I came out a few minutes later, she had put ALL of my items back. I had several things that I was going to buy that were now missing so left without purchasing them. It was embarrassing to be chased, harassed, and have my items taken away from me because I was near the fitting room with “more than 8”, even though I was purchasing many of the items. Would not go back to this location.

We were loyal customers to JP. My wife and my daughter (5 years old) went to JP to buy Fathers’ day stuffs at the Wheaton MD location and in between my daughter ranaway into the food court and her mam tried to get her at the gate but the alarm made a sound. The security guard disrespectful hold my wife and daughter. My wife tried to explain the situation, but they mistreated my wife and 5yrs old daughter, SAD. We decided to return back the JP credit card and cancel our membership with JP!!!

Very big store with lots of items, decent selection, and good prices, but clothing is not often in stock. VERY long wait for checkout, even just to pick up online orders. They need to hire more staff. Navigating the store is difficult. Their giant map uses ridiculously tiny font.

Truly the Twilight Zone of department stores. I cut through the store often to get to the Target on the other side of the mall, and it’s amazing how infrequently the stock is turned over. Clothing options are about 3 years out of date, and overpriced by a good 40-60%, considering it’s all of sweatshop quality. On the few occasions I’ve had to buy something here, I’ve wanted to give up and put my items back because the lines for the cashier are ridiculous. This is baffling to me, because there are VERY few shoppers in the store at any one time, so you’d think there wouldn’t be any lines to check out. This is probably because their computer system seems to run on the same operating system as a Tamagotchi, but even slower. It’s a wonder that this store is still around.

Took a 45 minute trip there after work only to find out that they close their fitting room at 7pm even though the store closes at 8! 20 minutes before is reasonable, but a whole hour??? Clearly they care more about their own convenience than customer service.
